I think one of the bonuses to living in Southern California is our proximity to Disneyland. Now I realize not everyone feels the same way, but our family loves it. We have been fortunate enough to have annual passes for a few years. One of the years we had passes our kids were small, so every time we went, we rode every ride in Fantasyland and Toontown. Those 45-minute waits for the Dumbo ride about killed me! When our kids were older we were able to get annual passes again and I was determined to say goodbye to Fantasyland. I couldn’t wait to introduce them to the “big kid” roller coasters.
Joseph’s life seems to be the quintessential example of how ironic God’s love can seem at times. First, Joseph is sold into slavery and God gives him favor in Potiphar’s house (as a slave). Potiphar sees how the Lord blesses Joseph in everything he does so he puts him in charge of everything he owns. But then, Potiphar’s wife accuses Joseph of attempting to sleep with her and he is sent to Jail.
As if being sold into slavery wasn’t bad enough, Joseph finds himself a prisoner. And keep in mind, this is not a 21st century jail. However, the same thing happens to Joseph again. God gives him favor with the prison warden and the warden put him in charge of all the prisoners and the prison.

I love the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. It’s a great story to share with kids when explaining God’s might and ability to overcome circumstances. It’s also a great story to remind adults that God will come through in the perfect moment.
There’s a 3rd reason I love this story and I’ve been processing through it today.
